Vivienne's Baptism

Today was Vivienne Mae's baptism day! It was honestly perfect. Better than what I imagined actually. I felt like the whole day was a gift from God. The weather, the special service -- it was Palm Sunday and we had the Bell Choir, kids waving palms, a kids sermon, the formal choir singing from the balcony...it was magical.

Vivienne looked like a little angel. And, when you stop and think about it, how far are babies from being angels? They're fresh from heaven. Never sinned. Never done anything wrong. Babies don't lie, steal, cheat...or even say something mean. They smell like heaven. And, when a baby smiles at you, your heart feels like God himself is pumping the blood in and out, because otherwise it might just stop beating all together.

It felt good to baptise my girl. My daughter. After all, she is God's child. I was just the lucky mama chosen to watch over her for a few decades. I feel honored God chose me to raise Vivienne (and Barrett too!). I want to do my best. I want to give her everything she needs. Kiss every boo-boo, know every funny story. I hope I get a long time with my kids. But, just in case I don't, I'm going to make every second count.

I also couldn't help but think of her wedding day (insert soft sobbing). The white gown, the beautiful face, the special moment of being up in front of the church. Only, on her wedding day, I won't be holding her, I won't be holding her hand....already I can tell it's going to be hard for this mama-bear to let go!!!!! Sunshine, I love you with all my heart.

Happy baptism day! Your daughter is so sweet. I loved how you used the phrase "fresh from heaven" that is such a perfect way to describe a baby.
