Crawling

Aaaaand, we have lift off, people. Barrett has officially started crawling this week. He's just one week shy of 9 months. He started lifting himself up on all fours for the past month, he'd take one "step" and then flop on his belly, doing the swim (hands and legs kicking in the air). This week he just kept staying up on all fours and then strung a few "steps" (what is the word for a partial crawl, like step for walking?) together and he's off!

Today at play group, it was interesting to watch all the kids around him. I'm noticing the girls tend to cruise around a lot more and quickly. Barrett hung back with me most of the time and would nuzzle in while I was holding him, I should be pushing him out there to play, but I just love cuddling with him so much, I can't make myself do it. I figure, he'll play when he's ready....or when I let go of him, which ever comes first! It was funny because last week at playgroup, he wasn't crawling and then this Thursday, voila! So crazy to think how fast things change in a baby's life.

He's also starting to sit up in his crib when he wakes up. It freaked me out the first time I came in and saw him eye-to-eye. I was so excited and immediately told my mom to lower her crib.

It's so exciting to see how much he learns from playing with other kids. He actually colored with another little girl, Annie, when we were visiting last time. It's just amazing....if I listen closely, I almost think I can hear him growing.
