9 ON--9 OFF

Someone once told me that"they say" it takes 9 months to put the baby weight on, and 9 months to take it off. Who are "they"? Well, as much as I don't like that saying, it sort of stuck in my head. In fact, I think it slowed my weight loss pace down a bit.

But......at long last.....I am finally down to my pre-pregnancy weight. It only took 8 months, 2 diets, 6 workout DVDs, and a daily weigh-in to get me there. No sweat! As the ladies of YaYa Sisterhood would say, "no numbers ladies." That was referring to their ages, but I think the same is true for weight. The important thing to know is that I worked hard to get it off! It sort of bugs me when people act like it was so effortless to lose their baby weight. They may offer a few "keys to the kingdom", nod their head and whisper "breastfeeding." Or they're just blessed with natural thinness. Yeah, I breastfed for 7 months. Sure, it may have helped, but it didn't liquidate my baby fat. I know it actually may be easier for some in the weight loss department, but I'm not ashamed to admit I worked for it!!!

Since I gained 5 lbs while trying I would like to get that off too, to be a true pre-pregnancy weight. The two diets that worked for me: Weight Watchers (11 lbs) Beck Diet Solution (9 lbs and counting).

Readers comments: thank you all for your comments to the Name Game -- you all have really cool names!!! I just may "borrow" some of them if/when we ever have another baby!

I agree, no numbers!! I know for me in the past I would get obsessed with that 'number'.

I hope you are not responding to my last post and it is just a coincidence...I HAVE worked my butt off since day one! :)Breastfeeding genetically makes my family lose too much weight, but I promise you the fat didn't just melt off...this problem occurred only within the last 2 months. You look absolutely amazing and DID way back when when I saw you! I think that was 5 months after delivery! Women would KILL for that kind of transition! xoxo

I am right there with you. The other day, I read a blogger who said that people who aren't able to lose the baby weight quickly either aren't breastfeeding, or pigged out and didn't exercise while they were pregnant. I wanted to reach through the screen and punch the person in the face.

I exercise. I eat pretty dang well. I breastfeed. Still, the baby weight is barely coming off. And it's frustrating, even though I know it will probably take a good 9 months.

Congratulations! I am still working on mine, but still nursing, so I am trying not to be too selfish.

Whatever you are doing is working - you look fab! I am not pregnant, nor have I been but I too, get super annoyed when naturally skinny women deliver a 9 pound baby and look the same after they got preg like 2 days after delivering!!! I know it will be harder for me. hehehe

Yay! It was not very easy for me either. I dont under stand these mama's that head home from the hospital in their pre-pregnancy jeans?!? NOT FAIR. I did Weight Watchers all last year (and still do to maintain)...and lost 38 pounds...but it seriously took me about a full YEAR!!
Oh well...SO worth it :)
